Day 114 - the South Bank show

After settling into my hotel near the London Eye, I went along the South Bank to meet up with Eve & Graham, and Steve who were attending the marathon too.
When I walked back, there were many shakespeare plays on screens showing and a lot going on. This was my favourite picture of the walk back. An old fashioned carousel and its light show.

Day 113 - We're gonna need a bigger bag...

Day 109 - 80 years of triangulation

Today is the 80th birthday of the humble trig (or triangulation) pillar, used by OS map surveyers to map Britain since April 1936.
I couldnt find one locally, there was one on Canford Heath but apparantly it has been destroyed so I found a picture of the highest one I have ever been to (and presumably the highest in the UK), on the summit of Ben Nevis

Day 108 - Oh i do like to be beside the seaside..

5 mile run this morning before junior parkrun, past sights like this...
wouldnt be quite as lovely if it was blowing a hoolie and raining but this morning it was just glorious. :-)

Saturday 16 April 2016

Day 107 - Wagon Droves and Ox Droves

Exploring the Ox Droves and more in Wiltshire as part of route Recce for the Ox Races.
I think the view speaks for itself!

Friday 15 April 2016

Day 106 - seemed like a good idea at the time

"Lets go to Upton Park to walk the dogs tonight it wont be quite as muddy or wet as the Heath?"...
Errrmmm.....

Thursday 14 April 2016

Day 105 - drip drip drop little April showers...

A lovely sunny day today while I'm at work and then what? Yes, flippin' rain forcast again! still not to be deterred I was going out anyway for an easy jog, with Jenny who had just come back from holiday in Spain. With a tan. You can go off people you know...Welcome back to England!
Anyway, we appear to have timed it to perfection as it was dry until the moment we got back to the cars, then the above happened.

Day 104 - Only 88 to go

Took delivery of a very special hoody. Thanks Andy Palmer
The Quest for the vest refers to membership of the 100 marathon club. Obviously you have to do 100 marathons to join, so god knows if i ever will, but i decided that as I am not fast I will have to go for quantity over quality and anyway it will keep me busy for a few years!
Currently I can sew a button on square 12, hopefully after next weekend I can move it to square 13.
Then...who knows but it will be fun finding out :-)

Tuesday 12 April 2016

Day 103 - foghorns at the ready

Tad foggy over the bridge into wimborne this morning, just about managed to dodge the traffic and catch the bridge with no cars on. Not great but done in a hurry!
very atmospheric :-)

Day 102 - Lovely!

I thought it would be a good idea to purchase travel sized toiletries to take to the London Marathon, to minimise space in my bag.
Had an amusing conversation with the shop assistant in Superdrug while puchasing it, that made me smile.
Her (on spotting the travel sized stuff) "Oh, going anywhere nice?"
Me - "Running the London marathon"
Her - "Lovely, When are you going?"
Me - "a week on saturday.."
Her- "How long are you staying for?"
Me - "Um...until I finish the race?"
Her - "Thats nice..."

Not sure if she wasnt listening, or as a probable non-runner, what i said just didnt register? :-)

Sunday 10 April 2016

Day 101 - A strange plant

On recovery from last nights party, i really couldnt face a run today so we did a walk instead over at Studland. Saw this plant in a very wet area. Bright green/yellow leaves and not much else, no idea what it was!

Saturday 9 April 2016

Day 100 - Party Time!

Good timing that we were having a party on my 100th post day! Think it was a good party from this picture, I even did a unicorn / rainbow themed birthday cake for my daughter who was 30 recently.

Friday 8 April 2016

Day 99 - searching for fancy dress

After hours of agonising over book character themed fancy dress for our joint birthday party tomorrow (yes last minite I know!) I finally decide on a Discworld character, lady Sybil Ramkin. She looks a bit like this with her dragon tending gear on. Just need a red wig now....

Thursday 7 April 2016

Day 98 - lichen

On a run I spotted a lovely bit of lichen on a branch in a really bright shade of light green, and managed to take this photo...just seconds before Daisy snatched it and destroyed it. Hence this is the best picture i have...

Wednesday 6 April 2016

Day 97 - intervals in three different flavours

its hard to do intervals at the best of times, but on trails its really difficult especially when you are keeping an eye on two dogs too, but i think i managed it, even if they were up, down and flat...

Tuesday 5 April 2016

Day 96 - sunshine, no rain, no wait....

I thought that given the weather forcast for today that it would be a good day to cycle to work (im a fair weather cyclist me!). Didnt get soaked on the way there, or on the way home as the rain had stopped by then but the big muddy puddles had all returned. This was the state of my backpack when i got home, you can imagine what my bum looked like....:-)

Monday 4 April 2016

Day 95 - Willow

Slightly stiff legs after yesterday, but managed a lunchtime walk today by the river. Pleased to report the weeping willow trees are coming into leaf, looking very elegant in the process...

Sunday 3 April 2016

Day 94 - Exe to Axe

I completed the Exe to Axe 20 mile coastal path race today with my pals Neil and Jenny.
Somewhere around the 16 mile ish mark, and the umpteenth vertical hill, I spotted these very old walking boots obviously placed carefully beside a gate. I wondered if they were a tribute to a loved one that used to love to walk and now had passed on? Guess I will never know but they were very poignant...

Saturday 2 April 2016

Day 93 - Just a Short Walk

It was a very warm day today.
Tomorrow I have a 20 mile hilly run to complete
So of course I thought it was a good idea to go out and walk 12 miles today! What could possibly go wrong?
Good views of Corfe Castle though, and not too much sunburn....

Friday 1 April 2016

Day 92 - April Fools?

Today is of course, April Fool's day. I did spend the whole morning being extra suspicious....did you?
